Regarding those messages supposedly sent by the Johnny's (those complaining about the fans), I'd like to inform everyone that THEY ARE FAKE. THEY ARE MADE-UP. I'm in the fanclub and I haven't received anything. I waited all this days to see if I'd receive something, but I haven't. Neither have my Japanese friends who are also members.
I read all the comments from the different JE group's communities, and nobody has received anything. If you don't believe me, you can see for yourself here, here, and here.

I know that it is said that the boys from Johnny's have done something like sending a letter to the fanclub members before (maybe more than once), and maybe that one might be true, but this one DEFINITELY ISN'T. This one was not handwritten, it was not signed and, worse, there wasn't even any mail sent to JE fanclub members.

Judging from the way the messages were written, it was probably made-up by a 13 year-old who believed she was helping by doing so. Doesn't anyone think it's at least strange that no senpai wrote any message this time, that the messages were written in extremely unpolite Japanese and that a 15 year-old was the representative? Doesn't anyone find it strange that no one has received this supposed mail?

Just because some young Japanese girls believed this and copied it in their blogs, it doesn't make it true. You shouldn't believe everything you read on the Internet, guys. Blogs don't hold the truth, even if they are Japanese blogs.
It's not my intention to spoil the fun, but I just hate to be deceived. And this time, not only me, but hundreds or maybe thousands of people were deceived as well.
And I'm not saying the guys don't have the right to complain. They do have the right. But the truth is that THEY DIDN'T complain, at least not this time.

Question/Problem:
Last night there was a brief power outage. Ever since, my computer's web-browsers (IE and Firefox) have been acting weird. The problems I've found so far are that some pages don't load all the way or at all, some take a long time to load, some files won't download (they'll start to download, then a moment later stop as if they were done), and search engines aren't working correctly (google, for example, will only load about half the page of search results, and the result links all open new tabs to completely different sites).

There's another computer in the house hooked up to the same internet connection and it still works perfectly. Only my computer is doing this and it too was working perfectly before the power went out.

I've tried unplugging/disconnecting/turning off the router, the modem, and both computers. I've tried disabling and enabling my network connections. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox and clearing all private data. I tried running virus scanning software, and nothing came up. Nothing works and the problems are all still there.

EDIT: It doesn't appear to be just the browsers. AIM took a really long time to start transfering a file. So it seems like maybe a general internet-access problem. I still have no clue how to fix this though.

Operating System and VERSION: Windows XP

Web Browser and VERSION: Internet Explorer 6, FireFox 2.0.0.10

Your level of experience: Beginner. I know hardly anything about computers.

My computer has developped a frightening habit of shutting itself down out of the blue, and it is doing it more and more frequently. In the last 24 hours, it shut itself down twice. It also is taking, I think, more and more time to open and download.

Once, when I was closing down Skype after a call, a window opened itself on my screen and showed a warning that my registry was infected, making my machine slow and liable to crash suddenly. This screen did not belong to any of my software. The graphics were reminiscent of Skype, but Skype does not have any kind of anti-virus provision in its software - I checked. So I treated it as an intrusion and deleted it. However, the description it offered is all too credible. I am scared, because I do not understand the registry and any idea of trouble there makes me fairly helpless. However, I am not taking this for a certainty.

My computer is an own-brand laptop from a British chain store. It has Windows Vista Home Premium, 1024MB RAM, INtel 945GM (Calistoga)+ICH7-M, and an 80GB hard drive.

My level of skill with IT may be described as intermediate, but with gaps.

Please help. The situation is both worrying and damaging, and getting worse.

Question/Problem: I just updated Internet Explorer yesterday and when I went to post an entry in livejournal, I had a scroll bar on the far left side, like so:

The problem is that when I type anything, I can't see it at all so I can't tell if I've mispelled anything BEFORE I post it. I have to type it out on Word Pad and then copy and paste. Is there any way I can fix it?

Question/Problem: I have a four month old Dell Inspiron 1720 Laptop. It took a fall about a month ago. Ever since then the battery is loose, and the laptop says my AC adaptor isn't recognized. The battery is slowly dwindling down, it's now at 9% power, but it still runs while plugged in. Just doesn't charge. The problem is more of a nussiance, and I've called Dell, and somehow they screwed up on my warranty... It was requested that I had full coverage when purchased as I was planning on moving soon and wanted to be cautious, well somewhere that got screwed up, and they they are refusing to cover the damage since it's from a fall. Any suggestions? Dell can't even help me figure out why it's broken, because they claim it's the ac adapter, and only the adapter, and everyone I talked too could barely speak English, much less understand what I was explaining. So since my warranty is useless, I am willing to take it to someone to repair it, thinking Best Buy, but I'd like to know what I'm getting into, as well as if it's possible to fix myself.

Your level of experience: Intermediate. My fiance has plenty of computer repair/building experience, but knows little about lappys.

Duration of problem: About a month.

Any steps you've taken to troubleshoot? I did a full system scan, and it isn't registering that there's a problem. There is no noticeable damage on the battery, nor on the ac adapter. So it has to be something internal.
